Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Linwu County organizes agricultural technicians to carry out technical training in the fields for farmers to ensure the increase of grain production and income.

Agricultural technicians are training farmers on the methods and essentials of plate breeding and throwing rice seedlings in Siwan Village, Xiyao Town, Linwu County. Plate breeding and throwing seedlings can save nearly half of the labor cost and time compared to traditional transplanting method.

“It was very troublesome to transplant rice seedlings in the past, but now the method of raising rice seedlings becomes better and much easier. The process is a little complicated, but it is much better because this method can save labor cost. We used to do the rice transplanting by hand with 200 yuan per mu, but now we do it with 100 yuan per mu. It saves half of the money,” said the rice grower Lei Zhibing.

Lei Zhibing is a large grain grower in Xiyao Town. He contracted more than 600 mu (40 hectares) of farmland together with his partners this year to plant early season rice and late rice. He shows confidence in this year’s planting through the training of agricultural technicians.

“The harvest was almost the same last year, with about 400 kilograms per mu. We will strive to increase the output of early season rice to 450 kilograms per mu this year with the support from the government,” Lei said.

Linwu County is expected to achieve the target of planting 75,000 mu (5,000 hectares) of early season rice this year. Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Linwu County carries out the treatment of abandoned farmland and strict farmland protection system for food production to abide by cultivated land red line, create high-quality farmland and ensure food safety.
